This product appears to be tied loosely to the Clear TV brand, based on the circular “Clear” logo, and the voice actor featured in other Clear TV products. It is marketed by Tristar Products, Inc., which is one of the big players in the As Seen on TV industry, and has heavily promoted Clear TV and Clear TV Key in recent years.

Clear Dash HD is the third As Seen on TV dash cam we have encountered in recent months. The other two being DashCam Pro (review), and  HD Mirror Cam (review).

In general, dash cams at this price range tend to be adequate, although on the low end regarding construction and durability. Our product researchers feel that the eventual rating for Clear Dash HD will likely be around 3 stars, with a slight majority of customers expressing satisfaction versus a large minority of users who feel it is not as high quality as they expected.

You may also want to consider your local laws regarding obstructions, as some dash cams may be seen as obstructing your view. What is considered an obstruction varies from location to location. There are other dash cams which offer a built-in rear-view mirror design which avoids this problem.

Overall, not a bad dash cam for the price, although you may want to consider the wealth of options for higher-end dash cams, some of which range in the hundreds, but offer professional quality results.

The use of dash cams is likely to increase in coming years, and more motorists are choosing them to fight tickets or insurance claims.

Does it start automatically when you begin driving or is it permanently on, so that you dont have to fiddle with it? Does it automatically overwrite the previous videos when the memory gets full?

I bought the clear dash HD cam. I had to return it because I could not figure out how to change the time and date stamp. I followed the instructions to 80 however it didn’t seem to work. I took it back to Walmart and got a new one. That one didn’t work either. I could not set the time and date stamp which is very important. I am stuck with it now because I lost my receipt. My email is [email protected] if anyone can help me?
