The holiday season is all about fun, laughter, and adding a bit of sparkle to your life. So when I came across Beardaments—the quirky beard decorations seen on Shark Tank—I knew I had to give them a try. These miniature ornaments promise to transform your beard into a twinkling centerpiece for any festive occasion. With my son Brandon and cousin Chad joining the experiment, we dove into the Beardaments experience, testing their practicality and holiday charm.
Where to Purchase
You can pick up Beardaments on Amazon for about $18.
Unboxing and First Impressions
At $18 on Amazon, Beardaments seemed like an affordable way to spread some cheer. The kit includes 16 ornaments: six lighted ones (three red, three green) and ten non-lighted pieces in festive colors like gold, silver, and red. The included clips are advertised as hair-safe and easy to use, but online reviews hinted at potential issues with comfort and durability.
Opening the package, I was pleased to see the vibrant designs, but activating the lights proved tricky. Each ornament has a pull-tab to activate the battery, but some were stubborn. Instructions even suggested tapping them against a table if they didn’t light up immediately—not exactly confidence-inspiring. Despite the hiccup, all six lighted ornaments worked, adding a nice sparkle to the mix.
Putting Them to the Test
My Experience
Clipping the ornaments onto my beard was… an adventure. My beard is on the shorter side, so attaching them close to the skin was challenging. The clips held reasonably well at first, but as I added more ornaments, they started falling off. The learning curve for placement was steeper than I expected.
In dim lighting, the blinking lights looked fantastic—a definite conversation starter for holiday parties. However, the non-lighted ornaments didn’t have the same visual impact. While fun, the whole setup felt a bit like trying to decorate a Christmas tree that’s actively fighting back.
Brandon’s Turn
Brandon’s slightly longer beard offered a better testing ground. We managed to attach all 16 ornaments, but the weight and constant movement made them slip off easily. Brandon described the sensation as “weird” and compared the look to having barnacles on his face—a humorous but accurate observation.
In public, the ornaments drew plenty of attention, with strangers complimenting the festive look. However, they continued to fall off, making the experience a bit frustrating.
Chad’s Review
For a longer, fuller beard, we turned to my cousin Chad, whose white beard is practically made for Christmas decor. Chad noted that the black clips clashed with his white beard and wished for clear ones instead. While he appreciated the fun aesthetic, he also found the process of turning on each light and removing the battery tabs cumbersome. Despite this, Chad concluded that Beardaments could be a hit at holiday parties, adding a whimsical touch to any festive outfit.
Battery Life and Maintenance
I tested the battery life by leaving one light on for over 24 hours. By the end of the test, the light was significantly dimmer but still functioning—a good sign for holiday parties lasting into the night. The lights are technically replaceable, but removing the batteries requires effort and might not be worth the hassle given the affordability of the set.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Fun and Festive: They’re guaranteed to spark conversations and bring holiday cheer.
- Affordable: At $18, they’re an inexpensive way to add flair to your holiday look.
- Lighted Ornaments Shine: The blinking lights are the highlight, especially in dim settings.
Cons:
- Attachment Issues: The clips don’t hold well on shorter beards or finer hair, leading to frequent readjustments.
- Limited Lighted Ornaments: Only six out of 16 ornaments light up, leaving the rest feeling less impactful.
- Battery Hassle: Activating and replacing batteries is not user-friendly.
Conclusion
Beardaments are a fun, quirky way to celebrate the holidays, especially if you have a full beard and enjoy standing out. While they’re not without flaws—like the struggle to keep them in place—they offer enough charm to make up for it. Whether you’re attending a holiday party or just want to spread some festive cheer, these beard ornaments are sure to make an impression.
Special thanks to Brandon and Chad for helping put these decorations through their paces. If you’re looking to add a touch of whimsy to your holiday season, Beardaments might be just the thing. Happy holidays, and may your beard—or spirit—sparkle!
