My Experience with a Mixed-Function Breakfast Maker: A Review

Over the years, I’ve tried several breakfast makers, each with its own unique features. Recently, I decided to give another one a shot, but this time, it was a bit different. This breakfast maker seemed like a microscopic kitchen, complete with a grill, stove top, frying pan, and cooking pot. Intrigued by its versatility, I purchased it on Amazon. However, as I delved into the mixed reviews, I became uncertain about its performance. In today’s review, I’ll share my first-hand experience with this breakfast maker and shed light on its pros and cons.

Breakfast Maker Review

Unboxing and Initial Impressions

The breakfast maker arrived without any noticeable branding, but I proceeded to unbox it with curiosity. Inside, I found a mini fry pan, a cooking pot, and the unit itself. Priced at $80 with a 4.2-star rating on Amazon (as of June 2023), the breakfast maker claimed to serve multiple functions such as a sandwich maker, toaster, frying pan, boiling pot, and food steamer. It was advertised as easy to operate, time-saving, and suitable for various living spaces like apartments, dorms, offices, or RVs.

Grill and Frying Pan Test

To put this breakfast maker to the test, I decided to start with a simple grilled cheese sandwich and an egg. Following the instructions, I oiled the surfaces, added the ingredients, and turned it on. Although the sandwich fit perfectly, I noticed some uneven cooking and slow heating. Flipping the sandwich seemed necessary for better results. Despite the minor setbacks, the taste of the grilled cheese and egg turned out to be satisfactory.

Waffle and Pancake Experiment

Next, I decided to try the waffle and pancake function, considering the breakfast maker’s claims. However, I quickly realized that the shallow waffle maker wasn’t ideal for a fluffy Belgian waffle. The instructions suggested a cooking time of 15 minutes for a waffle, but it didn’t take that long – although the end result was disappointing. Similarly, the pancake side didn’t fare well either. The pancakes turned out unevenly cooked and didn’t fit properly, leaving me unsatisfied with the breakfast maker’s performance in this test.

Boiling Water and Steaming

To assess the breakfast maker’s functionality further, I attempted boiling water using the cooking pot. While it eventually boiled after a lengthy 17 and a half minutes, the time required was far from efficient. Similarly, when I attempted steaming broccoli using the included steamer, it took an arduous 28 minutes to achieve the desired result. Time-consuming processes like these made the breakfast maker less practical for everyday use.

Hamburger Cooking

Lastly, I decided to put the breakfast maker’s frying pan feature to the test by cooking hamburgers. To my disappointment, the frying pan side proved to be slow and ineffective. It took significantly longer to cook the hamburger on that side compared to the grill. The uneven cooking and extended cooking time rendered the frying pan side impractical for preparing meat-based dishes.

Conclusion

After thoroughly testing the breakfast maker, I must admit that my experience was mixed. While the grill side showed some promise, providing satisfactory results for grilled cheese sandwiches and eggs, the other functions fell short of expectations. The waffle and pancake sides were inadequate, taking an excessive amount of time and yielding unsatisfactory results. Additionally, the boiling and steaming features were time-consuming, making the breakfast maker less suitable for busy mornings.

In conclusion, although the breakfast maker showcased potential with its compact design and versatility, its overall performance left much to be desired. If you’re considering purchasing a breakfast maker, it’s essential to carefully assess your needs and consider alternative options before making a decision.
