About Clear Zone

Clear Zone is a side mirror add-on for vehicles which eliminates blind spots. It is a small wide-angle mirror that attaches to your regular side mirror. The official product website was getclearzone.com, which was registered in March 2016. The screen shot below shows how the official website looked in April 2016.

As of this 2022 update, the website is no longer active and Clear Zone is no longer sold.

Clear Zone Review

Clear Zone addresses an age-old problem of blind spots while driving vehicles. This small device attaches to your existing side mirror, giving you a wider field of view, helping to eliminate blind spots.

Installing Clear Zone was perhaps my biggest problem with the product. It includes a piece of adhesive that attaches to the top of your mirror, and then you are supposed to tighten the unit with the enclosed screws. I wasn’t thrilled about attaching adhesive to my car, so I tried gently screwing it into place without them. It was a calculated risk, and one that didn’t pay off, as I ended up scratching the paint. So I tried the adhesive – and the screws ended up going through and marking the paint anyway. Fortunately, the adhesive didn’t affect the paint, and the residue was easy to remove.

Oddly, the website states “no tools required” but there are screws that require a Philips screwdriver. The company’s Amazon page also notes that screws are used to hold it in place. That leads me to wonder if the model depicted in the advertised was a prototype that may be slightly different than the one sold in stores.

Because I didn’t really like the way it looked on my Ford Fusion, I tried putting it on an older Ford Focus, with a plastic mirror housing, and I didn’t use the adhesive (as it was essentially destroyed when I removed it from my first car). I thought it was a better fit for that car, both aesthetically and functionally. Clear Zone remained firmly in place and did not fall off or loosen as I drove it on the freeway for several days while filming my YouTube video below. As of this writing, it is still on my Ford Focus and functioning normally.

You can easily adjust it to your needs, and it will provide a wide angle view of traffic behind you. It seemed to adjust more vertically than horizontally, and you do need to get it in the right position in order to eliminate blind spots. It is not curved like other blind spot mirrors.

While some As Seen on TV products tackle new problems, others take on problems that don’t really exist, and others – like Clear Zone – join a large field of products which already address the issue.

A cursory internet search for blind spot eliminators reveals a nearly unlimited number of similar products. Some of the products found i the link above look remarkably similar to Clear Zone, while others offer different designs. Perhaps the closest in design is a wide-angle side mirror attachment by Hercules, which sells for about $22 and currently holds a 4 star rating on Amazon.

The website for Clear Zone disappeared in late 2016, only to re-emerge in early 2017. Although it was slightly re-designed, the product and price remained the same. The only difference in 2017 is the addition of Clear View Headlight Restore as a free bonus.

For what it is, Clear Zone gets the job done. It provides a nice wide-angle view of the blind spot once it is properly positioned. It is competitively priced and works generally as advertised. There are a number of competing products which can be found locally, which means you wouldn’t have to endure shipping costs or delays. For those who decide to order Clear Zone, however, our researchers feel that the overall satisfaction will run mostly positive.
