Copper Chef Perfect Pizza Pan Review
The typical pizza pan is a flat, round baking sheet, sometimes with holes in the bottom in order to let air reach the underside of the pie. With Copper Chef Perfect Pizza Pan, we have a pizza pan that is comprised of three components: a crisper screen, spring form wall, and 12″ double sided pizza pan.
This pizza pan’s double sided design allows you to make thin or thick crust, and the spring form wall takes it further by letting you go deep with Chicago style crust.
The inclusion of the crisper screen allows you to cook other foods in the oven, not unlike the Copper Crisper or Gotham Steel Crisper Tray. Food stays suspended on the screen in order to let air flow around all sides. This is pretty effective for warming up leftover pizza or cooking frozen fries and snacks, but not as good for cooking meals from scratch.
All Copper Chef (and Red Copper and Gotham Steel) cookware uses modern nonstick technology that is impressive at first, but tends to degrade over time. Part of the problem lies in the advertising of these products, which suggests these nonstick surfaces are immune to scratching. I’ve found that babying these new nonstick surfaces will make them last, but most consumers treat them like regular pots and pans, and find the nonstick surface to fail quickly. Avoiding very high heat, metal utensils, and abrasive cleaning will go a long way to making this last over time.
Overall, I think Copper Chef Perfect Pizza Pan is a pretty good addition to the rapidly-growing Copper Chef line. If and when it arrives in stores, a $20 price tag should make it competitive with other pizza pans and crispers, which are usually less expensive, but offer less features.
As with most As Seen on TV products, there is a double offer for an additional fee. I don’t know why you’d want to buy two of these, especially if you aren’t even sure you’ll like the first one. Thus, I’d skip the double offer, unless you plan to give one away as a gift. I’ve tried this “gift” idea in the past, however, only to find that the product wasn’t as good as I hoped, so I decided not to gift my second unit.
Alternatives
It’s hard to find fault with this $15 nonstick deep dish pizza pan, while this $10 pizza screen does much of what Copper Chef Perfect Pizza Pan does in regards to crisping, and holds impressive consumer ratings.
