Flippin Fantastic Review

Flippin’ Fantastic is a simple device which allows you to make and flip 7 pancakes or eggs at the same time. To use Flippin’ Fantastic, you pre-heat a pan, then lay the apparatus inside it. Next, you pour pancake batter (or eggs) into each one of the rings. After one side properly cooks, you then quickly flip it over and remove Flippin’ Fantastic and allow the food to continue cooking. Once flipped, your food will cook on the other side and maintain its shape.

The design is relatively simple. This is essentially a single silicone mold which contains 7 small rings for pancakes or eggs. This is supposed to make the flipping process easier than if you were to make 7 items with individual molds (which would require seven different flips).

As you can see in the embedded video below, I found it difficult to recreate the results seen in the advertising. When I first tried to make pancakes with Flippin’ Fantastic, I didn’t see the fill line, thus I over-filled the rings. While I take responsibility for that, it is worth mentioning that the fill lines are very difficult to see. For my next attempt, I didn’t over-fill, but batter continued to leak out from underneath the device. That is because the apparatus fails to securely lay flat onto the pan’s surface. Additionally, while the instructions state that it can be used for 10 inch pans or larger, I found that 12 inch pans were a better fit. It also occurred to me that if some pancakes need to be flipped while others don’t, you can’t just flip some and not others. This is how I managed to burn some while under-cooking others within the same batch.

My test of eggs saw a similar problem in that liquid leaked underneath, which complicated the cooking process. I also struggled to get eggs to cook, thus they seemed under-cooked on top and overcooked on the bottom. When I attempted to flip the eggs, all but the center egg fell through the opening and I had to use a spatula to flip them. Hash browns did turn out OK, but it takes nearly 40 minutes to cook them with Flippin’ Fantastic in an oven, versus about 15 minutes the traditional way on a stove top.

The pancakes created by Flippin’ Fantastic are quite small, thus more aptly described as mini pancakes.

There have been a number of pancake devices advertised on television in recent years, such as the Perfect Pancake Pan or Pancake Express. Flippin’ Fantastic, however, seems unique among a rather crowded field of pancake flippers and molds. I think the idea of Flippin’ Fantastic is clever, but the reality doesn’t live up to the promise.

flippin fantastic review
Flipipin Fantastic is advertised for use with pans, but it seems better suited to flat griddles.

Although it seems to be advertised for use in pans, I think it would probably work best on an electric griddle, so the surface is flat and the temperature is evenly distributed. I also think some consumers may find a way to use this with poached eggs.

Overall, I think most consumers will find Flippin’ Fantastic difficult to use, although I’m hoping that repeated use may improve results.

I was going to order one until I saw the expensive shipping cost. I’m sure this item weighs not much more han a pound and they are charging $6.95 plus another $6.95 for the free one which I’m sure will be in the he same box. This brings the total close to $30.00. Way too expensive. I’ll stick to my misshapen pancakes at that price. No deal to be found here.

That’s the “gotcha” for As Seen on TV products! This item should start showing up at local Bed Bath & Beyond stores soon. It has recently been added to BBB’s online catalog (although not yet in stock) and shows as in stock for a few stores around the country.

Skip the copy and go straight to the video. It’s all you really need to know that this product isn’t worth the box it’s shipped in.

He says right in the review that the thing didn’t work. Some pancakes over cooked others were under cooked. Batter leaked out from underneath as did eggs. Eggs over cooked bottoms, under cooked tops as well as fell out when flipping, etc etc. What review were you reading?

30 bucks for something that costs like .08 cents per unit to manufacture sounds like highway robbery even if it works like a charm. 14 bucks to ship a 1 lb. parcel is an insult to our intelligence also. What is it coming by way of the Suez Canal.

It seems like a nice idea & I probably would purchase it if it made normal sized pancakes.

Wow!! Thanks for the video! For an OCD freak like me this product looks perfect but clearly it’s a scam. Good idea but horrible execution. Frankly I’ve found that pouring mixed batter into an empty ketchup bottle (that’s squeezable) can get you similar results. Also, rather than trying to cook a bunch at a time make no more than two. No matter the age of the pan they have their hot and not-so-hot surface areas so it’s best to cook a somewhat large pancake one at a time or two small ones. Both of them closer to the center of… Read more »

Thank you!!! I was going to order as well. This is flippin not worth it. It’s a mess and you have to spend more time cooking than normally. A good concept, but fails big time to deliver.

Another “As Seen On TV” waste of time and money. The EZ Flip Grips hold the sides off the pan surface even on the lowest griddle. This lets batter and eggs run under the sides even when the pan is heated to the point of burning everything poured into it. It goes back tomorrow for a refund.

I already had bought the darn thing before I saw these reviews. I had the same bad luck with it. However I did find a way to use it. The trick is to use a large cookie sheet and bake the whole thing. I like mini corn cakes and discovered if I pour corn muffin mix into the wholes and baked the whole thing in the oven. They come out well. Just remember to heat it in the oven a few minutes before you put the batter in to make sure it lays flat.

Okay you can’t use it right out of the box it has to flatten. You have to spray it with Pam, you have to not have the heat set to hell, and you have to only fill it to the pour line or just use a 1/8c. measuring cup. Pancakes, cake, brownies and noncrispy hash browns work great, but eggs do not! Make sure you use a flat griddle or a large 12″ pan.

This product DOES NOT WORK!!! I fell for the simple to use idea. Thought it would be nice when I have family over and have to cook large quantities. The eggs do not cook. The pancakes spill through the bottom. The hash browns burn on the outside and are not fully cooked on the inside. Do not waste your money. The company AS SEEN ON TV are products that no big company wants to invest in because they know they are not worth the money. They do not want these products because they know for a fact that customers will… Read more »

i bought one on ebay and was excited to use it.so the next day i followed instructions.i sprayed oil in the pan and waited for it to get hot and then i cracked 1 egg at a time to be disappointed to see the whites of the eggs seep through the edges.it isn’t the price of the item it’s the item itself.the commercial with the guy using it is misleading.i’m not sure how he does it without the eggs going like that but i can honestly say it’s rubbish

I always read reviews before buying products that show up on Facebook. Don’t fall for their own reviews! They’re always fake. Instead, Google the product name plus the word reviews. That’s the only way you’ll get an honest review! So far, I’ve purchased 0 (zero) products that were advertised on Facebook. I’m happy and so is my pocketbook!
