Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza is a nonstick baking pan that cooks lower fat bacon in the oven. Does it work as advertised? Here is our Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza review.
About Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza
Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza is a baking sheet that features a rack which keeps the bacon off the bottom of the pan where grease collects. The official website is buybaconbonanza.com, with a registration date of July 2017. The screen capture below was taken of the product website in August 2017. As of this September 2022 update, the website still works, but there is nowhere to actually order the product. You can still find Bacon Bonanza on Amazon for about $20.

Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza Review
Bacon Bonanza (aka “Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza”) is a sort of hybrid of two existing As Seen on TV products: Red Copper Brownie Bonanza (or Brooklyn Brownie Copper – basically the same thing) and Bacon Wave. If you’ve seen those two products, you’ll know that Brownie Bonanza is designed similarly. Bacon Bonanza is similar to Brownie Bonanza with a primary pan and divider to hold the bacon. Bacon Wave also works similarly in that it allows you to place bacon on its side to produce rows of crispy, flat bacon.
To use Bacon Bonanza, you place the bacon divider in the primary pan, and then line up strips of bacon in each of the divided sections. You then place the bacon-filled pan in the oven and cook. Bacon will shrink as it heats, and the divider will keep it from bending or curling. Fat will also drip down into the pan below so that the final product is flat, non-greasy bacon.
I know quite a few people who swear by bacon cooked in the oven, and you may be surprised how little splatter this method creates. Thus, something like Bacon Bonanza is an excellent tool that optimizes this experience. I believe you’ll find the final product to be relatively flat bacon that didn’t cook in its own grease. I have cooked bacon in the oven several different ways (including in the failed Baconboss) and have yet to find a grease-free option like Bacon Bonanza.
Sure, it’s a bit gimmicky, but bacon aficionados probably won’t mind.
When I compared Bacon Bonanza to Bacon Wave (see below), I found that Bacon Wave still outperformed the newer product. It took 26 minutes in the oven with Bacon Bonanza vs 11 minutes in the microwave with Bacon Wave. Perhaps the biggest “con” of Bacon Bonanza was that the bacon seemed less evenly cooked, with crispy tops and softer bottoms. The bacon from Bacon Wave was flatter and more evenly cooked.
Alternatives
As Bacon Bonanza becomes more difficult to find, knockoffs have started to appear on Amazon, such as this model. Unless you are set on making your bacon in the oven, you’ll probably find Bacon Wave to perform as well or better, in much less time – because it cooks bacon in the microwave. It’s also readily available online and in stores for $9 – $15. Another advantage is that Bacon Wave uses skewers to hold the bacon taut as it shrinks, which leads to even flatter bacon than Bacon Bonanza can provide. There are also bacon racks like this $30 model which are quite popular and can be obtained in a matter of days via Amazon.

Updated September 2022.
What does the offer mean. When I placed my oeder I seen nothing doubling. Why?
There is an option to add a second unit for $6.95. It’s toward the left of the order screen, with a big “YES” or “NO” checkbox.
WTF is my Order #769392445417?
The money was paid 3 weeks ago on 26 August, where is my order?
Stained after first use
BEWARE. This piece of junk will not give you crispy bacon. Even if you cook it longer. The top edges nearly burn and the lower still under cooked. And it is not non-stick. Mine is soaking now to remove burned on pieces.
Does the bacon wave come with a cover to keep micro splatters to a minimum? If not, any suggestions?
Tks
Don’t waste your $ it doesn’t work
This makes the nastiest bacon I’d rather eat microwaved turkey bacon. Made it taste like fried pork rinds. Definitely getting my money back. Ruined half a pound of bacon
Bacon bonanza is a horrible pan!
1. Took a month to arrive.
2. Stained BAD with first use.
3. Grease splatters all over the oven, hands AND face!
4. Bacon comes out a weird color and with a weird taste. (Gag)
5. Do not buy it! I worry about it being toxic. Am definitely going to return, try to get a refund!
It does cook the bacon above the grease, however the pieces do not cook evenly and the grease that drips on the bottom at the start is baked on and can’t be removed. I would NOT recommend this UNLESS you use a piece of aluminum foil on the bottom, which then becomes messy to clean up. I have requested a refund, however the number provided 24/7 rings once then hangs up.
I got stuck paying $29.95 plus shipping and took over a month to arrive. Now the price is $19.95!
I purchased the Gotham Steel Bacon Bonanza last week. It arrived yesterday and I decided to use it today. It was a real mess. The Bacon was not done properly and the easy clean bottom was stained and hard to clean. After 35 minutes, I took it out and finished cooking my bacon in my normal way (a rack over a foil lined cookie sheet. By the way, my pan looks just like the picture that Richard Fabulich posted below. I have two of these darn things (wanted to get one for a family member) and believe me I’m not… Read more »
Doing the exact same thing right now…
Save your money!!! Does not cook bacon evenly at all.
Damnation! I wanted this to work. I gave it to my son for Christmas and was ever so hoping to have Christmas Day BACON by using Bacon Bonanza. ARgh…it doesn’t work. As you’ve already read here, it doesn’t cook it evenly. Took forever and most of it was raw. Raising the oven temp to 400. Blah. I’m trying something different today: Going to flip the rack thus raising the bacon slightly higher. Be back later to let you know.
