Red Copper Brownie Bonanza Review

Red Copper Brownie Bonanza is yet another copper kitchen product advertised on television. This item allows you to make 18 perfect brownies easily and with less mess. Does it deliver on its advertising promises?

As Seen on TV pitch woman Cathy Mitchell is back extolling the virtues of this brownie pan, which allows you to place a divider in this nonstick pan in order to create perfectly cut brownies with ease.

To use Red Copper Brownie Bonanza, you simply fill it with batter, insert the divider, and bake. Once it is done, you let it cool for a few minutes, then remove the divider. After letting it cool more, you can place the pan on the included stand to push the separate bottom away from the edges. This will reveal 18 perfectly cut brownies.

The commercial states that Brownie Bonanza bakes each piece separately, which is supposed to be a good thing, but I’ve found that this feature can sometimes work against you. I’ve found that pans like this tend to cook the edges faster than the center, so you have to choose to take it out when the center pieces are not quite done yet, or allow the edges to over-cook while the center finishes cooking. I tend to prefer taking it out early and having slightly mushier brownies than having burnt edges. Your mileage may vary.

The commercial shows a metal mixer being used in the pan, which I would highly recommend not doing, as this will almost certainly degrade the life of the pan’s nonstick surface.

The original As Seen on TV brownie device like this (see below) was not nonstick, and that seemed to be its biggest complaint among consumers, and the new generation of nonstick versions have addressed that complaint.

That said, there will still be something of an effort to clean this item. Despite what the commercial shows, you should still expect to find a little residue on your Brownie Bonanza after baking is complete. While I usually prefer to wash nonstick cookware with a sponge and warm soapy water, the divider may be far easier to wash in the dishwasher because there are so many surfaces, and not all of them are easy to reach.

Overall, Red Copper Brownie Bonanza will work about as advertised. The commercial shows idealized results, but I think most people will feel the product works about as advertised. The only caveats are potential difficulty cleaning the divider, and the problem of the center not cooking as quickly as the edges.

Alternatives

If Red Copper Brownie Bonanza looks familiar, you’ve probably seen ads for Brooklyn Brownie Copper, which looks nearly identical and has also been advertising on television in early 2017. Both of these update an earlier As Seen on TV product called Perfect Brownie, which has been around for nearly a decade and can still be found in stores.

You can also find numerous inexpensive nonstick brownie pans like this popular $13 model that boasts a 4.8 star rating.

Below is my detailed review of Brooklyn Brownie Copper.

I just found the pdf recipe book at the bottom of this page (https://www.gothamsteelstore.com/). BTW, thank you, James, for your review. As i tried it without instructions, never coated the divider with cooking spray and was extremely disappointed with those results. Now that I know how it works, by watching your video…i’m gonna give this another shot. There are many recipes I’d also like to try! Thank you so much. I make a homemade tandy cake that i am imagining would work very well with this pan. Because of it’s size, i would probably have to do just what you… Read more »

I never tried that, but I would think you could do that, especially right out of the oven.

I was disappointed with the results. My brownies came out ok but it took be a long time to get them loose without ruining them..I left them for the 15 minutes before trying to get them out. If I ever use this again,,,,and that is in question at this point….I will spray Pam all over it…I wouldnt buy this again.

2 things I want to comment about this pan:
1: It leaks out of the bottom. Other than placing it on a cookie sheet and then into the oven, have you found any other way to prevent the leakage?
2: It takes longer to bake the center than the edges. Any sugestions?
