Today I’m excited to share my experience with the #1 Best Selling pan on Amazon, the Sensarte nonstick skillet. At under $20, I was curious to find out if it’s a bestseller because it’s affordable, high-quality, or both. After three weeks of using this pan, I have some insights to share.
Sensarte Pan Review
This is the written companion to my video review. I will update this space if anything changes regarding the pan’s availability or durability.
Where to Purchase
I picked up the 9.5-inch Sensarte pan on Amazon for $17.99. They offer models from 8 inches up to 12.5 inches. In looking at the price history, it looks like the cost fluctuates between $23.99 and $17.99, although the list price is $29.99. I haven’t seen it actually sold for the list price in the history I have available.
First Impressions & Setup
The Sensarte nonstick skillet caught my attention with its attractive speckled nonstick finish and woodgrain design, along with its affordability. The handle arrives separately, but they include a screwdriver for easy attachment, which I thought was a nice touch. The handle is wood grain and stays cool during use, plus it’s oven safe up to 302°F. The stainless steel base makes it suitable for all types of stoves, including induction cooktops.
According to the instructions, which were a bit minimal and not very clear at times, I needed to clean the pan with a soft towel or sponge before use. They recommend adding at least a spoonful of oil before each use for optimal nonstick performance, although they didn’t specify the type of spoon (teaspoon? tablespoon?). For my first tests, I decided to try the pan without any oil to see how the nonstick surface held up.
Pancakes With and Without Oil
I started with pancakes, testing the pan both with and without oil. To my surprise, the pancake without any butter or oil released perfectly and slid around effortlessly. The results were impressive: a perfectly cooked pancake with no sticking whatsoever. When I added oil, the level of browning was a bit different, but still impressive. Even a double-sized pancake flipped easily and cooked evenly.
Eggs
Next, I tried scrambled eggs. I added a light layer of oil and used a thermal imager to check the heat distribution. The eggs cooked evenly and released nicely, even after letting them sit for a while. Cleaning the pan was a breeze, with the egg residue coming off effortlessly with warm soapy water.
Fried eggs presented a bit of a challenge. Without oil, the egg stuck to the pan, which was a bit disappointing. However, with a small amount of oil, the egg slid around easily, proving that a little oil makes a significant difference.
Grilled Cheese
Grilled cheese sandwiches are a regular favorite in my kitchen, so I tested the pan with this classic dish. I preheated the pan and used buttered bread without adding any oil to the pan. The result was a perfectly crispy, golden-brown sandwich that slid around the pan with ease.
Steaks
Cooking meat can be tricky with nonstick pans, but the Sensarte skillet handled small steaks with no problem. I used a light layer of oil and added some butter later. The steaks cooked evenly, developed a nice crust, and slid around the pan easily. Cleaning up afterward was simple, with the butter residue coming off without any hassle.
Bean Dip
For my final test, I prepared my favorite bean dip, which often sticks to the bottom of pans after letting it cool. The Sensarte skillet performed exceptionally well, with the dip not sticking at all. After letting the residue sit for a couple of hours, it still cleaned up effortlessly— a testament to the pan’s impressive nonstick capabilities.
Conclusion
After several weeks of testing, I am happy to report that the Sensarte nonstick skillet is the number one bestseller on Amazon not just because it’s cheap, but because it’s genuinely good. It performs as well as more expensive nonstick pans I’ve tried, and I really have no significant complaints. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular.
And finally, I should also remind you that this is not sponsored in any way. I have never communicated with the company, and I paid for this item myself. If you’ve tried the Sensarte pan or something similar, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
