Aqua Dog Review
Pet owners are some of the most enthusiastic shoppers when it comes to pampering and caring for their furry friends. For those who like to take their dogs out for walks or to the park, Aqua Dog offers a superior alternative to carrying around dog bowls and bottles of water.
At first glance, Aqua Dog appears to be a regular sports water bottle, but with a small bowl on top. To fill this bowl, you simply squeeze the bottle, and water will rise up from the bottom and into the bowl, allowing your dog to drink in a more natural manner.
When you release your grip, the dirty water won’t drain back into the bottle, which keeps the water in the bottle clean. The tube which feeds the upper bowl stretches to the bottom of the bottle, meaning you don’t have to squeeze harder as water gets low. I found that as the water level became low, it required a rather strong grip to squeeze it hard enough to pump water to the top. Those with a weak grip may find this problematic.
Of my four pets, two of them took right to it, while the other two seemed hesitant. Because it is a different type of container, some dogs may take some time to get used to using it. My cat, by the way, immediately drank from Aqua Dog.
The bottle itself is 18 ounces, while the reservoir holds about 6 ounces.
Aqua Dog presents an elegant solution to the problem of keeping your dog hydrated while out of the house. It is a more sleek option than carrying a dog bowl and bottle of water, although that option is still viable, especially if you aren’t traveling too far from your vehicle.
With larger dogs, you may have to fill the reservoir continuously while your pet drinks in order to satisfy his thirst.
Overall, I like the idea behind Aqua Dog. It allows pet owners to easily carry around water for their dog in a non-spill, portable solution. The reservoir may seem rather small for larger dogs, but continuously squeezing the sides should provide a constant supply of water for your pet.
Alternatives
A search for Auto Dog Mugs will actually yield a surprising number of options. This pink 20 dog water bottle by Highwave, for example, sports a similar design to that of Aqua Dog.

Updated August 2017.
Unlike the main review, the dirty water does go back into bottle when you stop squeezing it, by design, and like it says in the ad. There is a more expensive model that does keep water in bowl, but not the $12.95 model. That is one problem, you have to keep squeezing or water drains, kind of tiring if your dog is thirsty. The water cup is pretty small for my 75 lb dog, so i guess if your dog is the size of a cat, it might be sufficient. I’ve gone back to carrying bottles of water and using… Read more »
My 2 Aqua Dog bottles look identical to the one in the golden retriever video (Bailey), but I cannot let go of the bottle or stop squeezing it, or the reservoir water immediately drains back into the bottle. According to the box they came in, and this video, I shouldn’t have to squeeze the bottle continually. Thoughts???
Thanks!

Hi Stacey. I just double-checked and yeah mine definitely doesn’t drain back down when I release pressure. If you take the bowl off, you’ll see the straw attached to a sort of screw. Perhaps you could try tightening or loosening that? The comment below states that there may be two versions, one of which drains back into the bottle when you let go. I never saw two versions in stores, only the version I have. I don’t know if this was a regular/deluxe thing, or if they updated it and there are still old versions floating around. Hope this helps!… Read more »
